Traffic

Linking the major 2 economic circles like Beijing-Kowloon Railway Loop and Pearl River Delta, Dongguan possesses unique geographical advantages. With sophisticated hardware facilities including Changping railway hub, Humen Port (Category One port), expressways and international airport (in the periphery), Dongguan develops itself into a logistics, supply and storage base for Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong as well as Macao, a critical material concentration & distribution belt for the Beijing-Kowloon Railway and Pearl River Delta and an international important industrial product purchase base.

Railway: Dongguan Railway Station is a convergence for Guangzhou-Kowloon Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Express Railway, Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou Railway and Beijing-Kowloon Railway as well and integrates into the national railway networks for passenger and goods transportation. Dongguan Railway Station established a national category one railway hub in which entrance and exit procedures for express passenger trains to Kowloon, Hong Kong from either Beijing or Shanghai are handled.

Ports: Humen Port, the national Category One port in Dongguan and open to the foreign vessels, embraces a water territory covering 79 km2 and has a 11.5m deep navigation channel which is navigable for 30000 tonnage vessels all day long and 50000 tonnage vessels in the occasion of surged tide. Recently, its navigation channel will be deepened to 13m. In addition, Humen has a coastal line as long as 116 km, 53 km of which is ideal for deepwater port construction, putting itself within the range of best water mouths in the Pearl River. The modern ports in 5 major port areas like Mayong, Shatian, Shajiaochang’an and Neihe etc. are about to be built up. From Humen Port, it takes only an hour to reach Huangpu Port, Xinsha Port in Guangzhou and Yantian Port, Shekou Container Pier in Shenzhen and two hours to reach Hongkong’s Container Pier respectively.

Airport: From any place within a radius of 50km of Dongguan City Proper, it takes only 50 minutes by car to the two international airports situated in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, northern and southern end of Guangshen Highway respectively. It takes only two hours to drive from Dongguan to Hong Kong International Airport.

Road: Nowadays, Dongguan has a total mileage of road with 4713.33 km and ranks first all over China in terms of road density, namely, 191.21 km per 100km2. Through inter-metropolis highways such as Guangshen, Guanshen, Guanghui and Jingzhu etc., Dongguan links with other cities closely. Via a sophisticated highway networks comprising of Changhu Highway, Longlin Highway, Yanhai Highway, Loop Express, Eastern Express and Songshan Lake Express, it takes only an hour to run through the whole city.

Ports

In Dongguan, there are a dozen of ports under construction or in operation, including 2 national Category One ports and 4 check points for Hong Kong and Macao goods express vehicles with daily handling capacity of 6000~7000 vehicles. The following authorities are engaged in goods investigation at port: Dongguan Customs, Taiping Customs, Dongguan Border Security Investigation Station, Dongguan Entrance & Exit Investigation Quarantine Administration, Dongguan Maritime Administration as well.

Customs Clearance

Investors are entitled by relevant laws and regulations to engage in processing trade business through incoming material processing either bought with own foreign exchange or provided by foreign manufacturers, and to import bonded material partially or completely and finally export the final products following processing or assembly. As for relevant processing trade business, investors are entitled to execute on their own after getting through registration procedures in the customs authority as well as obtaining permit by competent foreign economy & trade department. Currently, the approval, registration in the customs authority as well as contract performance procedures have already been standardized, and electronic port been initially established and perfected, facilitating investors' import and export business. Each set of computer of Dongguan Customs is maintained to be connected with the host of National Customs General Administration to realize information co-sharing, constant transfer and timely display.

Communication

Dongguan’s communication industry develops well and a modern communication network built up with programmable switches, transmission glass-fiber and digitalized facilities has shaped up. Dongguan has 4,613,100 program control telephone subscribers, 12,163,400 mobile users, 580,300 internet subscribers and 474,600 broadband subscribers in total.

Power Generation

Dongguan Shajiao Power Factory, is one of China’s largest coal-fueled electricity factories with total installed capacity of 3,880,000 kilowatt. And there are 13 own-built power factories in Dongguan with total installed capacity of 738,500 kilowatts. And all over Dongguan, 71 transformer stations at 100 kilovolt or above are built, with primary transforming capacity of 12,762,000 kilovolt. For each town there are one or two 110/220 kilovolt transformer stations to ensure sufficient power supply.

Drainage Volume

The main water supply projects include Dongshen Water Supply Project, Dongjiang Water Introduction Project and different water factories spreading over the entire Dongguan. At present, there are in Dongguan 3 large-scale modern water factories in operation with a 250 kilometer water-supply network and daily water supply amount reaching up to 4,250,000m2. Dongguan ranks the third following Guangzhou and Shenzhen in terms of water supply capacity and is capable of satisfying water demand of households and factories.
